Episode 4: It’s Not About the Bike
2009 November 8
In this episode, we realise that even though we’re on a bike trip, there are so many other things going on: scones, java shacks and definitions of success. If a bike trip isn’t about the bike, then what is it all about?

Mer and Alex,
great, great podcast!
B and I sat by the fire , she knitted , I looked at sailing and skiing photos on the web , as we listened to the episode. We looked at each other and smiled when Peter posed the ‘hard’ question. We smiled more when Pam delicately let just a little air out of it. Nice to hear their voices , and yours.
I wanted to join the conversation.
I clicked on ‘leave a comment’ as you were talking about the need for listener response. Unfortunately that click ended the podcast before it was over, and I haven’t figured out how to pick up where I left off. Oh well , maybe you were nearly done.
Keep riding and posting!
What kind of bikes are you riding ?
Steve
This episode just took this thing to a whole new level for me. Powells? Story menus? A Sand County Almanac? An option for audio feedback?! A & M you blow me away.
I bookended my day with this show – 30 minutes as I ironed my work shirt and munched some cereal, and the other half slumped on my couch at the end of the working day. It was truly wonderful way to splice my pre- and post- work routines.
I also think that you’ve made me re-realise that the Pacific N/W is where I gotta live. Goal = set.

I finally got around to listening to this one today… after Leo had made his disappearance….its not about the bike. I sat by the fire, with a dog (Levi) on my lap, sipping a glass of really fine red wine (gift from a somellier client), munching on cucumbers and Asiago cheese, and so enjoying the stories. So much to live, so much to learn. Such a wonderful experience you are having. Thank you for finding such innovative ways of sharing it with all of us.
Love you both.
