We’re Not Alone
Yesterday we were biking along between Santa Barbara and Camarillo when out of the corner of my eye I spied a bunch of loaded bikes lying on the ground off the side of the path. We came to a quick halt, turned around and made our way back to check it out. The four (almost) matching Surly LHTs were the noble steeds of four gals from New England, who, after over 4000 miles were dipping their feet in the Pacific for the first time. While they were undeniable wicked, this is not the first time we’ve come across other peeps doing epic, inspiring things.
Here are a few people we’ve met along the way that are definitely worth checking out:
Lauren, Rica, Jean Marie, and Sarah of A Voyage of Discovery are raising money/awareness for a sweet program for youth. They totally beat us on the short/sock tan front. And they are way better at keeping a diligent blog than we are. Their route across was unconventional (ie. not the adventure cycling route) and so their experience was pretty unique.

We’ve run into Roland and Belinda a couple of times along the way. They are on a tandem and they plan to pedal all the way to Argentina. Totally EPIC. They post cool video journals that we are thinking about adopting as part of our blogging too. As they go, they stop and help out wherever the Salvation Army has a job for them.

Here as well are a few other people we have heard about who are doing interesting things with audio and biking (what a combo!):
Huw and Rebeccah are on a two year trip through Africa recording the voices and sounds of the continent. Pretty awesome stuff, and they keep a wicked site: http://www.listentoafrica.com

We’ve heard about Russ and Laura of a Path Less Pedaled a few times. I just had a look at their site and I can’t figure out exactly where they are but I think they may be nearby. Their mission is somewhat similar to ours in that they are always on the lookout for people with stories. Also, they take beautiful photos.
We’ll try and keep updating these links as we continue to come across more amazing, inspiring people.

Hey guys – Welcome to LA! Russ and I wanted to say Hi and see if we can find a way for our paths to cross. We’re in Long Beach for another week and then heading east. If you’re headed through here, let us know.
